Can I watch Kwesé TV on another pay-TV provider’s decoder?

No, you can only watch Kwesé TV using the Kwesé decoder, the Kwesé App or on www.kwese.com.

Can I watch Kwesé TV using another pay-TV provider’s satellite dish?

The Kwesé TV satellite signal is sent from Eutelsat 7B. If your pay-TV provider also sends their signal from Eutelsat 7B, then you simply need to plug in a Kwesé decoder. You may also be able to move your existing satellite dish to face our satellite. However, to give you the best possible signal we engineered the Kwesé TV dish at 90 cm in diameter, which is larger than several other pay-TV providers. Using a smaller dish from another operator may result in a weak signal. Therefore, we recommend installing a Kwesé dish as with our current special you will not be saving anything using an existing dish.

What is the USB port on my decoder for?

It allows you to connect a hard-drive to your decoder so you can record your favourite shows with our PVR. You can also download CatchUp titles directly to your decoder. By allowing you to connect your own hard-drive, you get almost unlimited space to record shows. If you run out of space, simply add another hard-drive.

Note: you can only watch these shows when the hard-drive is connected to the Kwesé decoder. You can’t watch shows off your hard-drive on a computer or other device.

Can I buy an external hard-drive from Kwesé?

No, Kwesé does not sell external hard-drives. External hard-drives are commonly available in any IT or computer shop. But, not all hard-drives work optimally with the Kwesé decoder. Your hard-drive needs to be fast enough to transfer large video files quickly. We recommend you speak to your local computer specialist for their advice.

How do I connect my hard-drive to my decoder?

Plug your hard-drive into the USB port on your Kwesé decoder. Follow the instructions in your decoder manual.

Why do I need an external hard-drive?

Kwesé’s vision is to make premium satellite television affordable for Africa. To keep decoder costs at a minimum, and promote customer choice, we did not include a hard-drive in the decoder. Instead, we designed the dedoder so that our subscribers can plug in their own hard-drive. This way you have unlimited storage. Note: you must buy an external hard-drive to store content using the PVR function as the Kwesé decoder has zero storage capability.

Where can I get a user manual for my remote control or decoder?

A user manual is supplied in the box when you buy the decoder. If you have lost your manual, email us on help@kwese.com and we will happily assist you.

You can download the Kwesé TV App from anywhere in Africa, but certain content is only available in certain territories. KFS is a free channel and does not require you to have a subscription. KTN is another free channel offered on the Kwesé TV app. All other channels require you to have a subscription in order to watch on the app.

Why is my country not available on your registration form?

If your country is not available on our registration form it means that our service is unfortunately not available in your country just yet.

Can I watch Kwesé channels live on the Kwesé TV app?

Yes, you can stream channels using the Kwesé TV App. You need to have an active Kwesé TV subscription to watch most of the channels. KFS and KTN are the two free channels offered on the app. Data charges apply.

Why do I have to put in an OTP when registering?

We need to verify that the phone number you enter on the registration form in fact belongs to you, so we send an OTP to the number you give us to double check.

How fast must my internet be to stream content on the Kwesé apps?

We recommend a minimum internet speed of 2 megabits per second (Mbps) or higher. Note: the lower the bandwidth the worse the visual quality. However, the Kwesé apps automatically adjust the quality of the stream to match your available bandwidth. You can also increase or decrease the quality of the bandwidth by changing the settings on the app.

Why do I have to register again? I already registered on your old app.

To improve the user experience we have built a new app from scratch. The new app allows users to watch highlights, free Live TV and paid-for Live channels. It also offers entertainment and sports news, as well as a TV Guide to improve content discovery. Because the new app was built from scratch, a new registration process was put in place. On the old app, users were requiredto register with email address and on the new app users are required to register with phone number. We apologise for the inconvenience of re-registering.

Can I watch on the apps without an internet connection?

No, you cannot watch content on the Kwesé apps without an internet connection. You need a good internet connection to stream content on the apps. Note: data charges apply.

Why do I have to register?

Users must register on the Kwesé apps in order for us to be able to tell who you are and whether or not you should be allowed to watch the paid-for channels. Also content rights differ per country and registration helps us ensure the right content is served per country.

Can I set up multiple mobile devices on the same account?
