Econet Goup has hosting centres that store and process personal data in various locations in Africa. We take reasonable precautions to protect personal data in these hosting centres from loss, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration and destruction. The security or your personal data is important to us. When you enter sensitive information (such as payment or credit card number) on any order forms we encrypt that information using secure socket layer technology (SSL). We follow generally accepted industry standards to protect personal data submitted to us, both during transmission and once received by us. No method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is 100% secure, however. Therefore while we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect your personal data, we cannot guarantee its absolute security. Our programming content licences (“Content Licences”) are country and account specific. It is therefore important that we collect your contact details including name, email address phone details, username and passwords during registration to manage your services and to ensure that the services are used in accordance with our Content Licences. We use your IP address and phone location details to verify that you are authorised to use the services.
We may collect your usage details for accounting and billing purposes, including calculation of amounts due to our content owners. We may need to disclose such information to our content providers where we or they suspect that your use of the service is unauthorized or breaches their intellectual property rights in the programming content.
