Jamaican born Usain Bolt is the subject of I am Bolt on Saturday 15 July on Kwesé Know, a documentary about his life and incredible athletic success. Holding world records for three distances at the Olympics, and being an eleven-time world champion, Bolt has worked to earn the title of 'greatest sprinter'.

At the 2002 World Junior Championships in Kingston, Jamaica, a 15-year-old Bolt showed his promise by winning the 200m race in a time of 20.61s, making him the youngest gold medallist the World Junior Championships had ever seen. Bolt made his Olympic debut - Athens 2004 - at 17. Unfortunately, he did not last long because he tore a hamstring in the opening round of the 200m. But the hard-working Jamaican never stopped believing in his golden dream. Later he became the first man to win both the 100m and 200m in consecutive Olympics Games.

Between 2008 and 2016 Bolt won a total of twenty Olympic and world championship gold medals in the twenty-one events he entered. He went on to win his third consecutive Olympic 100m title in Rio in 2016, cementing his reputation as the greatest sprinter ever.

Like Muhammad Ali, Pelé, Michael Jordan, Sir Garfield Sobers, Tiger Woods and Roger Federer, Bolt is an athlete who transcends his chosen sport. His aim is to join the pantheon of sporting legends, and be considered as one of the world's greatest sportsmen.

Bolt is certainly one of the all-time great Olympians. He won 9 Olympic Gold medals to equal the shared record of Finland's Paavo Nurmi and the USA's Carl Lewis. However, Bolt lost one of those golds when a Jamaican team-mate in the 4x100m retrospectively tested positive for a banned substance.

Usain Bolt is a testament to the importance of hard work, dedication and believing in yourself. Catch him in I am Bolt on Kwesé Know Saturday 15 July at 21:00 CAT.
