Empowering African viewers with factual and lifestyle channels

Television can be educational, informative and enlightening. Kwesé empowers Africans with first-rate factual and lifestyle shows – the sort of content that engages the intellect and fires the flames of aspiration.

Kwesé Know (Ch 400)
Our two lifestyle and factual channels help you do just that. For a start there is Kwesé Know (Ch 400) which brings you a variety of great shows exclusive to Kwesé. Shows like Finding Your Roots (Wednesdays at 19:30 CAT), The Profit, Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown (Fridays at 19:30 CAT), Oxford Union (Weekdays at 18:00 CAT) and Restaurant Startup (Fridays at 18:30 CAT). We also have Kwesé Inc (Ch 405) which focuses on entrepreneurial content, with shows like Adventure Capitalists (Wednesdays at 20:30 CAT), Startup U (Mondays at 20:30 CAT), and Make Me a Millionaire Inventor – UK (Tuesdays at 20:30 CAT).

Discovery channels
Then there are our third-party channels, all eight of them. Discovery Turbo Xtra (DTX) can be found on channel 415. It’s a Discovery brand aimed at the male market. As their website unashamedly states: “DTX is a channel for young men who love turbo charged entertainment. Transporting viewers into a world where speed, adrenaline & extreme antics rule.” You better believe that DTX lives up to this high-octane hype. The titles of some of the shows say it all: FantomWorks (Thursdays at 19:00 CAT); Rods N Wheels (Mondays to Wednesdays at 17:25 CAT); Chasing Classic Cars (Wednesdays at 19:00 CAT); and Ultimate Car Build-Off (Saturdays at 18:15 CAT).

DTX is just one of the Discovery properties on Kwesé. We also have Animal Planet (Ch 420), Discovery Science (Ch 425), and IDX (Ch 430). Animal Planet (Channel 420) is one of the world’s most successful channels, watched in over 70 countries around the globe, and brings you stupendous variety of content exploring the wonders of the animal kingdom. Discovery Science (Ch 425) features shows about technology, science and space. The channel entertains, informs and excites, with titles like How the Earth Works (Wednesdays at 20:00 CAT); and How the Universe Works (Premieres Monday 10 April at 16:30); and MythBusters (Weekdays at 21:40 CAT).

If you enjoy a crime thrill-ride, IDX brings you real-life investigative dramas, with shows like: I (Almost) Got Away With It (Weekdays at 15:50 CAT); and The 1980s: The Deadliest Decade (Wednesdays at 20:00 CAT).

Lifestyle channels
If wild animals, crazy killer, and colliding planets is not quite your thing, then kick-back with our more chilled lifestyle shows. Explore the world with the Travel Channel (Ch 440). Or, if you don’t like roughing it with a backpack, luxuriate in style and glamour with Fashion One (Ch 450) – an international fashion channel.  If you’re looking for home inspiration, then look no further than Fine Living Network (FLN) on channel 445.

Portuguese content
Kwesé also has Portugal’s oldest and most prominent documentary channel – Odisseia (Ch 410). Some of the programming is in Portuguese and some in English. The shows are of an excellent quality and cover a wide range of issues, from biography to history, from current affairs to science and technology.

For a great line-up of factual and lifestyle shows you can’t do better than Kwesé TV. We bring you the best in wildlife, science, crime, and lifestyle, as well as testosterone-charged documentaries for the adolescent in all of us.

Connect to Kwesé TV now in Ghana, Zambia or Rwanda. Africans outside these territories can download the Kwesé App for iOS or Android, or register online, and enjoy our offering of streamed free channels.
